Prerequisites
There is no mandatory prerequisite. Holding the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) 4.0 certification is recommended but is not required to sit the exam.

This certification measures the ability to turn theoretical knowledge into practice in real-world testing scenarios, complementing the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level. It covers practical testing skills — from effectively applying black-box test techniques (Boundary Value Analysis, Equivalence Partitioning, State Transition, Decision Tables) to creating test plans and defect reports. It grew out of A4Q’s research with hundreds of test managers and training providers: the industry’s shared demand was to move from knowledge-based training and exams toward a skills- and competency-based approach. Accordingly, unlike classic multiple-choice exams, the certification requires candidates to produce genuine test artifacts (test cases, test plans, defect reports, etc.) and demonstrate them through open-text answers; an AI-powered learning tool supports scenario-based practice ahead of the exam.
